Music Director Riccardo Chailly leads the Chorus and Orchestra of La Scala in Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, conceived in Milan in memory of Alessandro Manzoni. This monumental score, blending operatic drama with sacred intensity, opens an international tour that begins at the Duomo of Pavia within the Festival of Sacred Music.
The journey continues at Hamburg’s striking new Elbphilharmonie and culminates at the Philharmonie in Paris, affirming Verdi’s masterpiece as a universal testament of faith and art. Under Chailly’s direction, La Scala’s forces bring both grandeur and intimacy to a work that bridges liturgy and theatre, tradition and modernity.
